they never break rules

praḻaye bhinnamaryadāḥ bhavanti kila sāgarāḥ|
sāgarāḥ bhedamicchanti praḻaye'pi na sādhavaḥ||
cāṇakyanīti

when the deluge at the end of a yuga sets in,
the oceans throw to winds all the rules of propriety
 and
transgress their boundaries to gobble up the entire land area

Maybe the oceans were just waiting for an opportunity to break the rules.

 But noble men will never never break the rules.

No even can shake them
and they will behave with equanimity and poise even
 when the greatest of catastrophes  overtake them.
