चिन्तनीया हि विपदां आदावेव प्रतिक्रिया।
न युक्तं कूपखननं प्रदीप्ते वह्निना गृहे॥
समयोचितपद्यमालिकायां।
cintanīyā hi vipadāṁ ādāveva pratikriyā|
na yuktaṁ kūpakhananaṁ pradīpte vahninā gṛhe||
samayocitapadyamālikāyāṁ|
A sensible person should plan his life with a lot of alacrity and caution.. Most of the time, things may look normal and safe.. However, things can go haywire at the most unexpected moment.. If reasonable precautions were not taken, the situation can be desperate and even fatal. This is not to say that we should cease to enjoy life just out of some chance mishap.. But then caution should be the watchword.
The above popular couplet from Samayochitapadyamalika just says that.
A person should be alert enough to think of remedies for possible dangers even before the crunch situation arises.. It is not right to start digging a well when the house has caught fire..

വിവരമുള്ള മനുഷ്യന് വരാനിടയുള്ള ആപത്തുകള് ആദ്യം തന്നെ മുന്നില്ക്കണ്ട് അവയ്ക്കുള്ള സാധ്യമായ എല്ലാ മുന്കരുതലുകളും എടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ടാവണം. വീട് കത്തിയെരിയുമ്പോള് തീയണക്കാന് വെള്ളത്തിനായി കിണറു കുഴിക്കാന് തുടങ്ങിയാല് പോര
