शर्वाय क्षितिमूर्तये नमः।
भवाय जलमूर्तये नमः।
रुद्राय अग्निमूर्तये नमः।
उग्राय वायुमूर्तये नमः।
भीमाय आकाशमूर्तये नमः।
पशुपतये यजमानमुर्तये नमः।
महादेवाय सोममूर्तये नमः।
ईशानाय सूर्यमूर्तये नमः॥
भविष्यपुराणे॥
śarvāya kṣitimūrtaye namaḥ| bhavāya jalamūrtaye namaḥ| rudrāya agnimūrtaye namaḥ|
ugrāya vāyumūrtaye namaḥ| bhīmāya ākāśamūrtaye namaḥ| paśupataye yajamānamurtaye namaḥ| mahādevāya somamūrtaye namaḥ| īśānāya sūryamūrtaye namaḥ||

ഈശാനായ സൂര്യമൂര്‍തയേ നമഃ॥

Lord Shiva the Supreme Mahadeva is called Astamurthy because He is manifesting Himself in eight forms which constitute the fundamental ingredients or objects of all that is present in this Universe.
