musings 256

There is a set of readers who, after reading my posts always give the rejoinder that many of the ideas and avices are not practical and are merely high sounding platitudes and sermons.
My answer is that
We are well aware of all the merits of the the ancient wisdom in our rational part of the mind. However the inferior gunas or baser propensities cloud our thinking process. The periodic subhashitams and exchange of thoughts serve the purpose of broomsticks, cleaning clothes and detergents that might clear the accumulating dirt.
If we conclude that there is no way of cleaning and stop even the present inadequate sterilization process, the accumulation of dirt would solidify and even turn cancerous.
We never would think of stopping the usage of soaps, toothpaste, broomsticks or vacuum cleaners. Would we?
