जीर्यन्ते जीर्यतः केशा दन्ता जीर्यन्ति जीर्यतः।
चक्षुः श्रोत्रे च जीर्येते तृष्णैका तरुणायते॥
विष्णुशर्मकृते पञ्चतन्त्रे
jīryante jīryataḥ keśā dantā jīryanti jīryataḥ|
cakṣuḥ śrotre ca jīryete tṛṣṇaikā taruṇāyate||
viṣṇuśarmakṛte pañcatantre
This is a very realistic statement on human nature as narrated in Panchatanatram, a classic in Sanskrit literatue.
"As one gets older, his hairs become grey, his teeth decay, The eyesight get fogged and the hearing becomes low. But even as the age advances, one's carnal desires and avarice get younger and younger... he yearns for such satisfaction more intensely."
Shankara ehoes the same feeling when he remarks..." tadapi na munchatyaashaapindam"... however emaciated one is, his desires never recede. Lust grows while other faculties wane
