कुसुमं वर्णसंपन्नं गन्धहीनं न शोभते ।
न शोभते क्रियाहीनं मधुरं वचनं तथा ॥
kusumaṃ varṇasaṃpannaṃ gandhahīnaṃ na śobhate ।
na śobhate kriyāhīnaṃ madhuraṃ vacanaṃ tathā ॥
Catchy words and Sheer flashy attractiveness on the surface without proper follow up or intrinsic worth or utility are of very little importance..
This subhashitam indicates that fact
A flower which is endowed with attractive colour, if it is having no fragrance is not of great significance or value
Similarly, words which are sweet to hear but which are not followed up by right action are just worthless..
Of course it is a sad truth of life that we hear a lot of sweet words but little positive action..
കുസുമം വര്ണ്ണ സമ്പന്നം ഗന്ധഹീനം ന ശോഭതേ ।
ന ശോഭതേ ക്രിയാഹീനം മധുരം വചനം തഥാ ॥
എത്രയധികം വര്ണ്ണപ്പകിട്ട് നിറഞ്ഞതാണെങ്കിലും സുഗന്ധം ഇല്ലാത്ത പുഷ്പത്തിന് ഒരു വിലയും ഇല്ല
അതു പോലെ വാക്കുകള് എത്ര മധുരങ്ങളായാലും അവയക്ക് അനുസരിച്ചുള്ള പ്രവര്ത്തികള് ഇല്ലെങ്കില് ആ വാകുകള്ക്ക് എന്താണ് വില?
പൊള്ളയായ വാക്കുകള് നിറഞ്ഞു തുളുമ്പുന്ന ലോകത്തില് ആണ് നാം കഴിഞ്ഞുകൂടുന്നത് എന്നത് ഒരു ദുഃഖസത്യം ആണ്.
