Just like all human beings who have taken birth on this earth, the young girls of Gokulam of Nandagopa too were all madly in love with that Krishna.. and no one else other than Krishna.

The prayer of every girl of marriageable age in the cowherd clan was to have that son of Nandagopa, the sweetest Krishna as her husband

In chapter 22 of the 10th Skandam of Srimad bhagavatham. the activities of the girls wooing Krishna are described.

In the chilly early morning of the first month of Hemantha... the Margasheersha or Marghazhi month, all the cute girls of the gokulam gathered together and marched towards Yamuna for their bath and prayer..

Simple beings as they were, their whole world, their whole desire, their whole hope was Krishna and Krishna alone..

They offered poojas and prayed Devi Katyayani.. the attractive daughter or Himavan with the following mantra

कात्यायनि महामाये महायोगिन्यधीश्वरि

नन्दगोपसुतम् देवि पतिं मे कुरु ते नमः

इति मन्त्रं जपन्त्यः ताः पूजां चक्रुः कुमारिकाः॥

श्रीमद्भागवते दशमस्कन्धे १०-२२-४

kātyāyani mahāmāye mahāyoginyadhīśvari

nandagopasutam devi patiṁ me kuru te namaḥ

iti mantraṁ japantyaḥ tāḥ pūjāṁ cakruḥ kumārikāḥ||

śrīmadbhāgavate daśamaskandhe 10-22-4

Devi Kathyayani,

you are the mahamaya capable of attaracting the hearts of anyone..

you are the only one who can join together in happiness the love lorn hearts yearnig for each other.. ( .. you are the mahaayoginee)

You are the supreme goddess who can control eveything

May you be pleased to bless me by making that attractive boy of Nandagopa as my husband.. I fall at your feet in prayer..

Of course in the very same chapter of Bhagavatham , we see how that naughty Krishna has been watching these girls sitting atop a tree, how he steals the clothes of the girls as they enter the water keeping aside their garments..

How there is a lot of quarrels and debates tinged with love and entreaties and so on..

But this one sloka, the Katyaayani mantra is famous as a prayer that would bring suitable bridegrooms.. to all little girls.. Bridegrooms an nice, as great as attractive and perhaps as naughty as that black rogue of Gokulam and Brindavan krishna Himself..
