So many things could not be written without any basis whatsoever

There is a strong and vociferous argument that worship of God in the shape of idols and offering food and other things to such deities in the shape of idols and statues is not in accordance with the higher philosophy of HInduism which conceives God as Brahmam, a shapeless, formless entity.
My reply to it

Our understanding of things and perceptions are too little, sketchy and limited. We can think and understand only within tiny limits. We can understand only within the limits our mind and brain can permit us.
There are a lot of ideas conveyed by agamas puranas and vedas and these are all found in recorded and documented stage . We cannot say so many things were understood merely as guesswork or as figment of imagination.
It is simply impossible to imagine or lie so much.
So many things could not be written without any basis whatsoever
And we know most of the questions raised and interpretations given by people like the smart new gurus are no fresh inventions but apparently smart counter-arguments without much basis.
Such counters are not strong enough or really good enought to replace ancient ideas unless the newer ideas are proved beyond doubt. That has not happened.
Some alternate ideas were presented even by masters like Shankara but such sages never said idols should not be worshipped or naivedyams should not be offered to idols. Great seers never tried to demolish old beliefs when they presented alternate theories.
Philosophy and faith can accommodate many variant perceptions. Maybe all the ideas are valid in their own ways.
Only idiots and bigots would claim that what they say alone is right and correct.
