मरणं प्रकृतिः शरीराणां विकृतिर्जीवितमुच्यते बुधैः ।क्षणमप्यवतिष्ठते श्वसन् यदि जन्तुर्ननु लाभवानसौ ॥

maraṇaṃ prakṛtiḥ śarīrāṇāṃ vikṛtirjīvitamucyate budhaiḥ ।kṣaṇamapyavatiṣṭhate śvasan yadi janturnanu lābhavānasau ॥

शरीराणां for the human bodies, for the living beings possessing bodies मरणं death प्रकृतिः is natural, इति thus बुधैः by wise men उच्यते it is said जीवितं life, the incident of being alive विकृतिः is just by chance, is just uncertain एव indeed . यदि if at all जन्तुः a living being क्षणं अपि even for a split second श्वसन् breathing अवतिष्ठते remains, keeps alive तर्हि then असौ he लाभवान् is having a lot of profit, is lucky ननु indeed

ഭൌതിക ശരീരവും പേറി ജീവിക്കുന്ന ഏതു വ്യക്തിക്കും മരണം തികച്ചും സ്വാഭാവികമാണ്. അത് തീര്‍ച്ചയായും സംഭവിക്കുക തന്നെ ചെയ്യും, ഇന്നല്ലെങ്കില്‍ നാളെ. . ആര്‍ക്കും മരണം ഇല്ലാതാക്കാന്‍ കഴിയില്ല. മരിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞ ശേഷം വീണ്ടും നല്ല ജീവിതം ലഭിക്കും എന്നും ഒരു ഉറപ്പുമില്ല. ജീവനുള്ള ശരീരത്തോടെ നിലകൊള്ളുക എന്നത് യഥാര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ വളരെ യാദൃശ്ചികമായി സംഭവിക്കുന്ന ഒരു കാര്യം മാത്രമാണ്. ഭൂമിയില്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്ന ഓരോ നിമിഷവും ഏറെ ഭാഗ്യകരമായ സമ്മാനമായി നമുക്ക് കിട്ടിയതാണ്. അത്തരം ഓരോ നിമിഷവും ഒരാളുടെ ലാഭമാണ്.

അതുകൊണ്ട് സ്വാഭാവികമായി വന്നു ചേരുന്ന മരണത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് വെവലാതിപ്പെടുന്നതില്‍ വലിയ അര്‍ത്ഥം ഒന്നുമില്ല. അതെ സമയം ലാഭമായി നമുക്ക് കിട്ടിയ ജീവിതത്തില്‍ ഓരോ നിമിഷവും ഏറ്റവും ഫലപ്രദമായി ചിലവഴിക്കുവാന്‍ നാം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കെണ്ടാതല്ലേ ?
