do not kill even for food

Eating of animal flesh is not proper for human beings, according to the Guru Chaanakya.
The logic put forth by the master is that  every human being has as  his first priority the preservation of his own life. If this is so, how can he afford double standards? The life of other living beings are also important and loss of such life entails a lot of pain and suffering.  If a human being wants to live a blessed life he should not cause death of animals and other  living beings even for food.

The view even if it comes from the master is  subject matter of debate in favour of the idea and against it.  It can only be said that experts on food habits have proved beyond doubt that man need not be non-vegetarian for sustenance of life.
