the master is waiting for us

the bemishless, complete and pure brahmam is manifest in the form of the suprem ecstacy at Guruvaayur. But as if the familarity brings contempt, the seekers and dvotees go in pursuit of some other lesser means of relization through their body, words and mind.. This can indicate only their pathetic ignorance. An such action is patently foolish. However, let us, with determination and sense of purpose, approach Guruvayurappan alone. He is the one who is capable of destroying the sufferings of all the world.

this slokam has to be viewed in the light of the social ethos existing in the contemporary time-span in kerala.. people were after minor demi-gods and sorcerers as such pursuits did give them temporary relief from minor difficulties. But the Parabhrahman standing in Guruvaur, if worshipped, would grant all that is necessary for our life in this world and also other worlds. The poet saint only advises us that we should be dependent on the Ultimate Divinity and should not go for lesser, untested entities. Bhattathiris anxiety is that Guruvayurappan , by staying in this material world and being so near to all, has not been properly understood the people. Even if the God himself comes before us and offers everything us will not believe and may ask him from which shop he had borrowed the make-up materials.
