In the second chapter of Raghuvamsam, King Dileepa is going to forest to do service to Nandini, the daughter of Kamadhenu, the Divine Cow,  He was serving her with all devotion But as luck would have it somewhere is the forest a lion sprang upon the Divine Cow with murderous intention.  The alerted king tried to  strike down the lion with an arrow by as if by magic, he could not move his hands.  The lion says that He is one of the members of the expert servants of Shiva specially deployed to guard the forest and so he could not attack him against the powers of shiva and shakthi..  He explains the backgroud for posting such guadrd.
"Once a wild elephant whose skin was itching, just rubbed his body on the bark of a lovely tree in this forest.  The merciful mother Parvathi, when she visited the forest and saw the darling tree shedding her juices like blood through the wounds caused by the elephant, was so overwhelmed with sorrow and she cried as if she was seeing hew own darling  son the Valorous commander-in-chief of the army of Gods, Subrahmanya was shedding blood from wounds suffered in the battles with the demons."
The Lion goes on to explain that he was depolyed to guard the forest from such mishaps and so on

The crucial point to note that even Parvathi loved Nature and the Plants and trees in the forest as herown children. The poachers and destroyers of the forest, have you ever heard of it.  Kalidasa was not only a poet but also a jnani.. He would not write a lie about what the Divine Mother spoke or felt.
