तानीन्द्रियाणि अविकलानि तदेव नाम
सा बुद्धिरप्रतिहता वचनं तदेव।
अर्थोष्मणा विरहितः पुरुषः क्षणेन
सोऽप्यन्य एव भवतीति विचित्रमेतद्।
भोजप्रबन्धम्।
tānīndriyāṇi avikalāni tadeva nāma
sā buddhirapratihatā vacanaṁ tadeva|
arthoṣmaṇā virahitaḥ puruṣaḥ kṣaṇena
so'pyanya eva bhavatīti vicitrametad|
bhojaprabandham|
Rich or poor, a man may physically possess the same fair-shaped limbs. He may be having the same intellectual eminence. He may talk with the same eloquence. But once his wealth and affluence which are the real providers of heat and energy for him has taken leave of him, he becomes an entirely different man. it is indeed very strange.
Ballaladeva simply points out the garden truth. When one man is rich, he is called beautiful, wise, eloquent and what not. But if misfortune
strikes and his bank balance evaporates, he becomes a total stranger to this world.
So beware of taxmen, thieves and showy friends. They have the knack of ensuring that your bank balances vanishes.

ധനികനായിരിക്കുമ്പോളായാലും പിന്നീട് ദാരിദ്ര്യം വന്നു ചേര്‍ന്നാലും ഒരു വ്യക്തിയുടെ ശരീരത്തിലെ അവയവങ്ങളുടെ രൂപത്തിലും പ്രവര്‍ത്തനത്തിലും വലിയ വ്യത്യാസം ഒന്നും ഉണ്ടാവുന്നില്ല. പണം ഉള്ളപ്പോള്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന മിടുക്കും അറിവും ഒക്കെ പണം ഇല്ലാതായാലും അതുപോലെ തന്നെ ഉണ്ടാവും. പണക്കാരന്‍ ദാരിദ്രനായത് കൊണ്ട് അയാളുടെ വാക്ചാതുര്യവും നഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നില്ല. പക്ഷെ ഒരാളുടെ സാമ്പത്തിക ഭദ്രത തകര്‍ന്നാല്‍, അയാളുടെ പണം നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടാല്‍, അത് അയാളുടെ ജീവനും നിലനില്‍പ്പിനും ഊര്‍ജ്ജവും ചൂടും നഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നത് പോലെയാണ്. അതോടെ അയാള്‍ വ്യത്യസ്തനായ ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്‍, ആയിത്തീരുന്നു. പഴയ കെല്‍പ്പും വാചകമടിയും ഊര്‍ജസ്വലതയും ഒന്നും കാശില്ലാതായാല്‍ പിന്നെ കാണില്ല. അയാള്‍ ലോകത്തിനു തന്നെ അപരിചിതനും വേണ്ടാത്തവനും ആയി മാറിയേക്കാം.
അതുകൊണ്ട് കരം പിരിക്കുന്നവരെയും, കവര്‍ച്ചക്കാരെയും പിന്നെ അടിച്ചു പൊളിക്കാന്‍ വേണ്ടി മാത്രം കൂടെ കൂടുന്നവരെയും എപ്പോഴും സൂക്ഷിക്കുക. അവര്‍ക്ക് നിങ്ങളുടെ പണം നിശ്ശേഷം ഊറ്റിയെടുക്കാനുള്ള കഴിവ് അസാമാന്യമാണ്.
