etched as if on solid rock...

सद्भिस्तु लीलया प्रोक्तं शिलालिखितमक्षरम्।
असद्भिः शपथेनोक्तं जले लिखितमक्षरम्॥
नित्यनीती
sadbhistu līlayā proktaṁ śilālikhitamakṣaram|
asadbhiḥ śapathenoktaṁ jale likhitamakṣaram||

The words spoken or some opinion given by an earnest gentleman, a man of character.. would be as solid, clear and effective as an inscription chiseled on rock.

And the words spoken or assertions made by a person lacking in character are like promises recorded on the surface of water.

An edict on stone remains true and great for ever and ever.. The gentlemen too keep their words .. even if such words are uttered casually

But scheming impostors would make apparently earnest statements, oaths and promises in plenty.. But they matter very little other than the sounds produced.. Such promises would disappear just like lines drawn on the surface of water..

നിത്യനീതീ

നല്ല മനുഷ്യര്‍ അത്രയൊന്നും കാര്യമായെടുക്കാതെ തമാശക്ക് പറഞ്ഞ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ പോലും ശിലയില്‍ കൊത്തിവച്ച അക്ഷരങ്ങള്‍  പോലെ പ്രാധാന്യമേറിയവയും ഫലപ്രദങ്ങളും ആയി പരിണമിക്കും. സ്വഭാവഗുണവും നേരും നെറിയും ഇല്ലാത്തവര്‍ ആണയിട്ടു പറഞ്ഞാലും അത് വെള്ളത്തിനുമുകളില്‍ എഴുതിയ അക്ഷരങ്ങള്‍ പോലെ ആയിരിക്കും.
വെറും പാഴ് വാക്കുകള്‍ 

നല്ലവര്‍ അവരുടെ വാക്കുകള്‍ ഏതുവിധത്തിലും പാലിക്കും.
പിന്നെ പ്രകൃതിയും ദൈവം തന്നെയും ആ വാക്കുകള്‍ യാഥാര്‍ത്ഥ്യം ആയിത്തീരാന്‍ സഹായിക്കും എന്ന് വിശ്വസിക്കാം.
 പക്ഷെ വിടുവായന്മാരുറെയും അന്തഃസാര ശൂന്യന്മാരുടെയും പ്രതിജ്ഞകള്‍ക്ക് പോലും ഒരു ഫലവുമുണ്ടാവില്ല.
