The meaning of the couplet from Chanakya is
If a person is having no education, there is nothing much to be claimed about his well connected and high ranking family.
A person would be respected even by gods if he is highly educated and having a lot of knowledge although he is not from a family of great status.

ചാണക്യനീതിയില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ഈ ശ്ലോകം ഒരാളുടെ കുടുംബമഹിമയെക്കാള്‍ അയാളുടെ അറിവിനും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിനുമാണ് കൂടുതല്‍ വിലയുള്ളത് എന്ന കാര്യം ഊന്നിപ്പറയുകയാണ്
ഒരു വ്യക്തിക്ക് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും നല്ല അറിവും ഇല്ലെങ്കില്‍ അയാള്‍ ആഭിജാത്യമുള്ള കുടുംബത്തില്‍ പിര്ന്നതാനെന്നു പറഞ്ഞു മേനി നടിച്ചിട്ടു എന്ത് കാര്യം?
തറവാട്ടുമഹിമ ഒന്നും ഇല്ലെങ്കിലും നല്ല വിവരവും ഉയര്‍ന്ന വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും ഉള്ള ഒരാളെ ദേവന്മാര്‍ പോരും ബഹുമാനിക്കും.
