सुरभयति मुखं कुठारस्य

सुजनो न याति वैरं परहितनिरतो विनाशकालेऽपि।

छेदेपि चन्दनतरुः सुरभयति मुखं कुठारस्य॥

chedepi candanataruḥ surabhayati mukhaṁ kuṭhārasya||

Noble people, ever helpful for others, never entertain hatred or enmity even if they are severely attacked and hurt. Even when the trunk of a sandalwood tree is chopped, the pieces adds only fragrance to the edge of the axe.
