सौहृदेन परित्यक्तं निःस्नेहं खलवत्त्यजेत्।
सोदरं भ्रातरमपि किमुतान्यं पृथग्जनम्॥
सुभाषितरत्नभाण्डागारे
sauhṛdena parityaktaṁ niḥsnehaṁ khalavattyajet|
sodaraṁ bhrātaramapi kimutānyaṁ pṛthagjanam||
subhāṣitaratnabhāṇḍāgāre
If one discovers that a person with whom he has to associate with is
unfriendly, repulsive and basically without love, affection or such warm emotions, then the best choice available for him is just to avoid him and jettison him as if he were junk or useless material, even if such person is one’s own uterine brother or blood-relation. And if this is the case with a brother, one need not have second thoughts about discarding such a fellow if he is not closely connected at all.
