Sadguru's reply left me spellbound

Just watched a video by Sadguru.

A youngster asks him-
"I have managed to get admission into a premier institution, because I was prodded by jealousy for my peers. That way, have we to view jealousy as a positive factor in motivating a person?”

Sadguru's reply left me spellbound
He says.
“You know, this is Deepavali season. In many parts of India, people make fun and frolic by collecting a lot of firecrackers, collecting them in to bundles and tying the bundles to the tails of a donkey and setting fire to the cracker bundles. The expulsive noise and commotion terrify the donkeys and they bolt for their lives.
Yes, in such situation a donkey runs even faster that a racehorse. Is this the way you want to conduct your life?”
The quality of life is not just in being at the forefront, but surely in enjoying every moment of life staying put at that place. Will jealousy help you to do that?
Please do not set your priorities that way at least from now onward."

====================

Of course, these are not the exact words.
Nevertheless, this is the essence of what he said.
I am a very jealous person.
I get uneasy when I see others who are more brilliant and articulate than me.
Moreover, that attitude has kept me miserable almost for seven decades of my life.
I do not think the words of the Seer would have much impact on me in the end.
Still I have to confess that it sounded like a poignant warning.
