I happened to see a discussion thread started by a friend four years ago..
The question raised was in essence whether it was right for even devout people who visit temples to manage to jump the queue of many many devotees and manage to have audience with the Deity.. even through questionable and unfair means..
My thoughts on it
What do you do?
Have you had occasion to change the philosophy in the past four years..?
I understand that visit to a temple is just an optional way of worship..
Nothing really special comes out of it by way of spirituality..
But the basic human urge is to show that the person who does something want to show that he had done it in a superior way.. he has applied his ingenuity and has cashed on all his resources..
And even the sane man wants to present himself as a very important person even when he knows that claim to be false .. especially in the heart of his hears..
So many of the Vratams, visit to temple and such activities are show offs..
And some impressionable people substitute rituals for the core of spirituality and even worship.. They are just indoctrinated that way..
And there are people who gain some sort of leadership (although mostly empty) among others by such exercises in management by hook or crook..
For any of these categories, such attempts to jump the queue, to be unfair and to brag about it can be quite exciting..
Everyone is entitled to do what excites him.
That is all..
And does it really matter what any or each of the participant anywhere would do?
Ultimately what it matters to the individual is what he does..
A reply here can be another show off
