We read many descriptions about the complete destruction of the Yadhu clan of Krishna .. and we assume that it was a sort of disappearance without leaving any traces..
It is really not so.
The storyline of destruction of the Yadu vamsha.. with Vrishnis, Andhakas and Bhojas.. the three main clans.. is described in the Mausala Parvam.. the 16th of Mahabharatham.
Evan though most of the active heroes perished fighting with one another, Krishna and Balarama Survived..
Vasudeva the king of Dvaraka and the aged father of Rama and Krishna too was alive..
Daruka the charioteer and the friend of Krishna was also alive and he was sent by Krishna to Hastinapura to fetch Arjuna..
Meanwhile Rama and Krishna proceeded to forest and left their bodies after they adjourned to forest..and did not wait for the arrival of Arjuana
Vasudeva was alive till Arjuna, the son of his sister Kunti arrived..
And the next day he passed away through sheer grief ..
Arjuna, in fact, did the last rites for all the heroes (including Rama and Krishna .. )
Even the bodies of Rama and Krishna were recovered and cremated..
The four mothers of Krishna entered the pyre of Vasudeva and left for heavenly abode. (.Devaki , Bhadra , Rohini and Madira were the four queens of Vasudeva )
Of the major wives of Krishna, Rugmini, though did not pass away with Krishna, later entered fire and joined her Lord..
Satyabhama entered forest .. all alone and left for ever.
The one boy Vajra the grandson of Krishna ,, then a small child was anointed as the leader of the Yadhu vamsam.. and his capital was Kurukshetra becasue Dwaraka had already been overtaken by the ocean.
Arjuna could not wield his arms and he could not protect the widowed Ladies of Dwaraka, who were attacked by Abhirs.. a set pf looters in Punjab, as Arjuna was conducting the ladies to his own country..
Arjuna paid a visit to Bahgavan Vyasa and was informed that with the departure of Krishna, the existence of Pandavas on this earth was not of any use.. and when this message was conveyed by Arjuna to his elder brother, the five brothers and Draupadi left for the Mahaprastaana leaving the country to their grandson Pareekshit,..
And entered heaven..
What I wanted to say is that , if you read the Mausala Parva.. the 16th, the Mahaprastana parva the 17th and the Swargarohana Parava the final land 18th chapters of Mahabharatham. we would see that except for the majority of Yadhuvamsam and the city of Dwaraka, all the destructions caused were with sufficient provision for continuity..
Vajra, the grandson of Krishna became the leader of the Yadhu clan and Pareekshit, the grandson of Arjuna took over Hastinapura.. and History continued.
A thorough study of the parvas 16th 17th and 18th of Mahabharatham would reveal that the storyline we generally give as authentic and catastrophic.. was not exactly so..
There were signs for growth in future..
History never stops.
Like the Phoenix raising from its own ashes, kings and kingdoms appear, make progress, exist and prosper, perish and again the cycle repeats..
