A man would invite destruction for himself through three things.

 

लोभप्रमादविश्वासैः पुरुषो नश्यति त्रिभिः।

तस्माल्लोभो न कर्तव्यः प्रमादो न न विश्वसेत्॥

गरुडपुराणे इन्दिश्चे स्प्रूचे २६८५

lobhapramādaviśvāsaiḥ puruṣo naśyati tribhiḥ|

tasmāllobho na kartavyaḥ pramādo na na viśvaset||

An advise from the celebrated Garuda Puranam

A man would invite destruction for himself through three things.

1.Being excessively greedy and crazy about accumulating wealth through any means, by hook or crook

2. Falling prey to an attitude of negligence bordering on indifference, failing to exhibit diligence and alertness in life and activities in general

3. Having a tendency to respose trust without proper verification or validation about the antecedents of the person whom one trust, without properly evaluating the chance of success or failure in an activity

Therefore, the advice given is that one should never be too greedy, one should ever be alert and one should never trust anyone else blindly.
