I quote from Abhijnana Shakuntalam.
snigdhaṃ vīkṣitamanyato'pi nayane yatprerayantyā tayā
yātaṃ yacca nitambayorgurutayā mandaṃ vilāsādiva ।
mā gā ityuparudhdayā yadapi sā sāsūyamuktā sakhī
sarvaṃ tatkila matparāyaṇamaho kāmī svatāṃ paśyati ॥
The attractive movements of the eyes of Shakuntala due to the natural tenderness, the slow gait because of the heaviness of the attractive parts of the body, the chance glance while going away after a meeting, all these meant to Dushyanta as stemming out of special romantic feelings to him that he attributed to Shakuntala in his fertile imagination whereas such gestures happened only in the normal course without reference to him..
and the poet remarks.. Kaamee swataam pashyati.. the lover sees every action of his lady love as prodded by her romantic vibes for him...
Here you are imagining many statements as referring to you...
