धारिभ्यो ज्ञानिनः श्रेष्ठाः

Ajnebhyah granthinah shreshtaah

The people who have read something from books are better than the illiterate
Those who have tried to understand something are obviously better than the mere bookworms
Those who have applied their mind and have acquired enlightenment are at any time better than those who have just read and understood peripherally.
And
The best are those who have
read
understood
imbibed
and are putting to best use through concerted efforts and action the knowledge they have acquired
Yes, the taste of the cake is in eating it.
Reading, writing giving discourses,

all these things would look nice.
But if we cannot practice what we learned then that knowledge is of no use either to us or for others
