The lord of Serpants .. too is Skanada..
In fact he manifests as a Naga in Subramania temple Kukke.. in Karnataka..
They say the Lord is present as a Naga even now..
And the soil taken from the hole once a year is treated as a great prasadam..
The legend is that Skanda took the shape of a snake and did vrata in expiation of the disrepect shown by him towards Brahma in the Pranavam meaning episode..
The Naga and Skands legenes haave gelled in Kerala too..
