in praise of mother in laws

श्वश्रुम् विना वृत्तिरिह स्वतन्त्रा
प्रायः स्नुषाणामपवदहेतुः।
यद्वाणि लोके रमया विहीन
सतीमपित्वामस्तीम् वदन्थि।
सुभाषितशतकत्रयं
śvaśrum vinā vṛttiriha svatantrā
prāyaḥ snuṣāṇāmapavadahetuḥ|
yadvāṇi loke ramayā vihīna
satīmapitvāmastīm vadanthi|
subhāṣitaśatakatrayaṁ

The independent actions of a daughter in law without the conseny and active participation of the mother in law usually invites criticism in this world. The situation is not much different in heaven also.  Brahma who is born from the navel of Vishnu is His son and so his wife Saraswathi is having Lakshmi as the mother in law.  The presence of Saraswathi  which manifests as great erudition an knowledge is incomplete bereft of the lustre of the mother in law lakshim in the shape of wealth and affluence is present.
However learned is a man, if he his not having money, he finds no respoect or recognition in this world
