tongue or venom?

निर्माय खलजिह्वाग्रं सर्वप्राणहरं नृणाम्।

चकार हि वृथा शस्त्रविषवह्नीन् पितामहः॥ 

चाटुश्लोकम्॥ 

nirmāya khalajihvāgraṁ sarvaprāṇaharaṁ nṛṇām| 

cakāra hi vṛthā śastraviṣavahnīn pitāmahaḥ|| 

cāṭuślokam|| 

Brahma the creator produced the nasty tongue of an evil fellow which is capable of destroying many lives.. 

After that he created weapons, poison and fire too .. but his later creations were waste and superflous.. 

The tongue itself could kill everything 

The couplet indicates that when a fellow with an acid tongue is around, he can cause all the destruction that the fire, the weapons and the poison all put together could achieve.. 

നിര്‍മ്മായ ഖല ജിഹ്വാഗ്രം സര്‍വപ്രാണഹരം നൃണാം

ചകാര ഹി വൃഥാ ശാസ്ത്ര വിഷ വഹ്നീന്‍ പിതാമഹഃ 

ചാടുചണകം

എല്ലാ ജീവനും  ഒരേ സമയം ഒടുക്കുവാന്‍ കഴിവുള്ള

ദുഷ്ടന്റെ നാവിന്‍ തുമ്പ് സൃഷ്ടിച്ച ബ്രഹ്മാവ്‌  വിഷം, ആയുധം, തീയ് എന്നിവയും   ആവശ്യമില്ലാതെ  സൃഷ്ടിച്ചു. 

ദുഷ്ടന്റെ നാവു തന്നെ തീയും വിഷവും ആയുധവും എല്ലാം ചെയ്യുന്ന വിനാശം ഒറ്റക്കുതന്നെ ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു

सर्व प्राणहरं खल जिह्वाग्रं निर्माय पितामहः सर्वं नाशं कृतवान् By creating the end of a tongue of a nasty fellow, the tongue which could take the lives of all, Brahma had already created all the damage he could.

तदनन्तरं सः शस्त्र विष वह्नीन् वृथा कृतवान When he later created weapons, poisone and fire, it was a wasteful action..
