औषधं जाह्नवीतोयं वैद्यो नारायणो हरिः

auṣadaṁ jāhnavītoyaṁ vaidyo narāyṇo hariḥ
when the body is subjected to decay due to old age and all sorts of ailments attack it the only medicine is the holy waters of Ganga and the doctor is Lord Krishna, Hari, the Narayana.

ReplyDeleteWe chant this slokam at the coclusion of Vishnu Saharanamam. I have also noticed that this particular couplet is chanted along with Dhanvantarri Mantram. It could be a part of many puranas and upa puranas. I cannot pinpoint any such text with my limited knowledge. However, the couplet is ic vogue in the hearts of devoteess for millenniums.
