Shatrughna gets a lot of coverage in Uttarakandam of Valmiki Ramayanam ..

especially in episodes like Lavanaasura Vadham..

In fact, Lakshmana and Bharatha were interested more in the service of Rama and they never held much of Royal office..

But Shatrughna was assigned many duties as deputy to Rama..

and strangely he was present in the Ashram of Valmiki in the night when Sita who was abandoned by Rama, gave birth to Kusha and Lava.

Shatrughna had reached the hermitage of Valmiki by chance while proceeding on a mission leading the forces of Ayodhya as per direction of Emperor Rama.

Of course how much Mandavi and Shrutakeerthi the spouses of Bharatha and Shatrughna would have sacrificed.. during the times of Ramayanam..

That hardly find any place in the minds of chroniclers.

History abounds in unsung heroes and heroines..
