शतं विहाय भोक्तव्यं सहस्रं स्नानमाचरेत्।
लक्षं विहाय दातव्यं कोटिं त्यक्त्वा हरिं भजेत्॥
śataṁ vihāya bhoktavyaṁ sahasraṁ snānamācaret|
lakṣaṁ vihāya dātavyaṁ koṭiṁ tyaktvā hariṁ bhajet||
This slokam is composed in praise of four good activities. Enjoying what one has earned through spending for comforts, Spending money of holy dips and pilgrimages, Using money for charity and in helping others and finally just giving up everything at the lotus feet of Hari
Spend hundred units of what you earn, give up hundred of what you earn and est and enjoy
Spend thousand units of what you earn in taking baths, meaning travelling to holy places and taking holy dips.
Spend one lakh unit of what you earn in helping others, give in charity lakhs which you earn, so that that money would become useful in mitigating the suffering of the needy
And finally, spend or give up Crores, practically what all things you have and just take refuge at the lotus feet of Krishna the Lord Hari.
शतं hund विहाय leaving, spending, setting aside भोक्तव्यं eat, enjoy सहस्रं thousand विहाय spending स्नानं आचरेत् celebrated holy ablution, spend for bathing लक्षं one laksh विहाय spending दातव्यं apply for charity, use for alrtruistic purposes कोटिं crore त्यक्त्वा give up, throw away हरिं Hari, Lord Krishna, The supreme being भजेत् worship
ശതം വിഹായ ഭോക്തവ്യം സഹസ്രം സ്നാനമാചരേത്।
ലക്ഷം വിഹായ ദാതവ്യം കോടിം ത്യക്ത്വാ ഹരിം ഭജേത്॥
ഈ ശ്ലോകം കൊണ്ട് ഒരാള് താന് സ്വരൂപിച്ചെടുത്ത പണം കൊണ്ട് ചെയ്യാവുന്ന നാല് നല്ല കാര്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചാണ് സൂചിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്
സമ്പാദിച്ച പണം നല്ല വഴിയില് സ്വന്തം ആവശ്യങ്ങള്ക്കായി ചിലവഴിച്ച് ആനന്ദിക്കുക,
തീര്ത്ഥയാത്രകള് നടത്തുക,
ദാന ധര്മ്മങ്ങളിലൂടെ കഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്നവന് ആശ്വാസം നല്കുക
പിന്നെ തനിക്കുള്ളതെല്ലാം ഭഗവാന് ഹരിയുടെ പാദത്തില് അര്പ്പിച്ചു അവിടെ ശരണം പ്രാപിക്കുക
നൂറു ചിലവഴിച്ച് ആഹാരവും മറ്റു ആഡംബരങ്ങളും ആസ്വദിക്കുക
ആയിരം ചിലവഴിച്ച് സ്നാനം നടത്തുക, അതായത് തീര്ഥയാത്രകള് നടത്തി പുന്യവാനാവുക
ലക്ഷം ചിലവഴിച്ചു ദാന ധര്മ്മങ്ങള് ചെയ്യുക, മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്ക് കഴിയാവുന്നതെല്ലാം കൊടുത്ത് അവരുടെ കഷ്ടപ്പാടുകള്ക്ക് അറുതി വരുത്താന് ശ്രമിക്കുക
കോടികള് ത്യജിച്ച്, തനിക്കുള്ള സര്വ്വസ്വവും ഹരിയായ കൃഷ്ണന്റെ കാലടികളില് അര്പ്പിച്ച് അവനെ ശരണം പ്രാപിക്കുക
