अवृत्तिकं त्यजेद्देशं वृत्तिं सोपद्रवं त्यजेत्।

त्यजेन्मायाविनं मित्रं धनं प्राणहरं त्यजेत्॥

avṛttikaṁ tyajeddeśaṁ vṛttiṁ sopadravaṁ tyajet|

tyajenmāyāvinaṁ mitraṁ dhanaṁ prāṇaharaṁ tyajet||

A very solid advise from Subhashitaratnabhandagaram

One should leave a country or place which does not give him opportunity to do some work to earn and live

One should give up a job or work which is causing him a lot of harm and nuisance

One should abandon a friend who is tricky, deceitful and not trustworthy

and

One should give up money which could cause loss of life to the one who has it..

In short one should try to steer clear of what is potentially harmful.. or which is of no use..
