प्राज्ञस्तु वितरत्यर्थं नरो दारिद्र्यशङ्कया॥
बलालदेवस्य भोजप्रबन्धे॥

A worthy advice from Bhojaprabandham..
The foolish person just hoards all that he has because he fears that he may face poverty later
The wise and the noble person distributes all that he has because he fears that he would face poverty later..
The attitude of the foolish person is very clear.. He is just thinking of his own personal safety in a shortsighted manner..
However, the wise and the noble understands that the purpose of having wealth is just to share for the benefit of all.. Even if it is not spent like that, the money will get spent.. So, if he does not distribute it when he is wealthy, he would not have the opportunity to share when he faces poverty himself
Alternately, when money is hoarded, or kept in some hands, the others who are needy would try to grab such money by fair or foul means and ultimately, when the money goes, the hitherto rich man would become poor.. So the better course would be to distribute and share what one has, because then the chances of being robbed or divested of everything by others are less..
Anyway, sharing is always a better policy that hoarding..
പ്രാജ്ഞസ്തു വിതരത്യര്‍ത്ഥം നരോ ദാരിദ്ര്യശങ്കയാ॥
ബല്ലാലദേവസ്യ ഭോജപ്രബന്ധേ॥
പണം സമ്പാദിച്ചു കൂട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്ന വിഡ്ഢിയായ മുനുഷ്യന്‍ വല്ലവര്‍ക്കും കൊടുത്തു തീര്‍ത്താല്‍ തനിക്ക് പിന്നെയും ദാരിദ്ര്യം വരുമെന്ന് പേടിച്ചു ആര്‍ക്കും ഒന്നും കൊടുക്കാന്‍ മനസ്സില്ലാതെ ജീവിക്കുന്നു.
പണം കയ്യിലുള്ള നല്ല മനുഷ്യന്‍ ആ പണം അപ്പോള്‍ത്തന്നെ മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ക്കെല്ലാം വീതിച്ചുനല്‍കി സന്തോഷിക്കുന്നു. ഭാവില്‍ ദാരിദ്ര്യം വന്നു ചേര്‍ന്നാല്‍ മറ്റുള്ളവര്‍ക്ക് കൊടുക്കാന്‍ കയ്യില്‍ ഒന്നും ഉണ്ടാവുകയില്ലല്ലോ എന്നതാണ് അയാളുടെ ആകാംക്ഷ
പണം ഉള്ളപ്പോള്‍ നല്ല കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ചിലവാക്കുകയും മറ്റുള്ളവരുമായി പങ്കുവയ്ക്കുകയുമാണ് നല്ലത് .. വെറുതെ പണം കൂട്ടിവച്ചു കാവലിരിക്കുന്നതില്‍ വലിയ പ്രയോജനം ഒന്നും ഇല്ല എന്നതാണ് ഇതിന്റെ താല്പര്യം.
