मनसैव कृतं पापं न शरीरकृतं कृतम्।
येनैवालिङ्गिता कान्ता तेनैवालिङ्गिता सुता॥
समयोचितपद्यमालिकायाम्।
manasaiva kṛtaṁ pāpaṁ na śarīrakṛtaṁ kṛtaṁ|

A very thought provoking reminder..

It is our mind that commits sin.. and the body is not the real sinner..
See, the same body that embraces the lover or a wife with amorous love embraces the daughter with paternal love..

Of course, sense of right and wrong and actions arising out of such thoughts is the product of the mind and the attitude..
The body is just a sort of weapon or implement that takes order from the mind and brain and functions accordingly..
Of course our culture presupposes certain standard levels of conduct we would naturally and instinctively follow in respect of various relations.. The rule will apply only to people whose behavior would conform to such social standards..
മനസൈവ കൃതം പാപം ന ശരീരകൃതം കൃതം।
യേനൈവാലിങ്ഗിതാ കാന്താ തേനൈവാലിങ്ഗിതാ സുതാ॥
സമയോചിതപദ്യമാലികായാം।
വളരെയധികം ചിന്തിച്ചു മനസ്സിലാക്കേണ്ട ഒരു യാഥാര്‍ത്ഥ്യം ആണ് ഈ ശ്ലോകത്തില്‍ നാം കാണുന്നത്.
അര്‍ത്ഥം
നമ്മുടെ മനസ്സിലാണ് പാപം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നത്. ശരീരത്തിന്റെ പ്രവര്തനത്തിലല്ല
ഓമനമകളെ കെട്ടിപ്പിടിക്കുന്ന അതേ ശരീരം തന്നെയാണ് പ്രിയതമയേയും പുണരുന്നത്
മകളും ഭാര്യയും പെണ്ണുങ്ങളാണ്. അവരെ തലോടുന്നത് ഒരേ ശരീരവും കൈകളും കൊണ്ടു മാത്രമാണ്. പക്ഷെ മകള്‍ക്ക് നമ്മുടെ മനസ്സില്‍ കറകളഞ്ഞ വാത്സല്യവും കരുതലും മാത്രമായിരിക്കും. പക്ഷെ പ്രിയതമയോടടുക്കുമ്പോള്‍ നമ്മുടെ വികാരങ്ങള്‍ മകളോട് പോലെ ആയിരിക്കില്ല. ഇവിടെ ശരീരത്തിന്റെ ചലനങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഒരു പ്രാധാന്യവും ഇല്ല.. മനസ്സാണ് നമ്മെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കുന്നത്. ശരീരം ഒരു ഉപകരണം മാത്രമാണ്
നമ്മുടെ സംസ്കാരം ചില ബന്ധങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് വാക്കുകള്‍ക്ക് അതീതമായ പാവനത കല്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അതില്‍ ഒന്നാണ് മകളോടുള്ള സ്നേഹം. ആരെങ്കിലും അത് മറക്കുകയാനെങ്കില്‍ അയാള്‍ മനുഷ്യജീവി അല്ലേയല്ല.
