ups and downs in fortune..

कालक्रमेण जगतः परिवर्तमाना।

चक्रारपङ्क्तिरिव गच्छति भाग्यपङ्क्तिः॥

भासकवेः स्वप्नवासवदत्ते॥

kālakrameṇa jagataḥ parivartamānā|

cakrārapaṅktiriva gacchati bhāgyapaṅktiḥ||

bhāsakaveḥ svapnavāsavadatte||

The fortune of people in the occupants of this earth is getting subjected to periodic or cyclic ups and down just like the set of spokes in a wheel that is rolling ahead as the journey progressed.

The poet implies that luck does not favour any particular person for ever..

The conditions in life will undergo ups and down..

Here the ups and downs in life are compared to the position of the spokes of a wheel that moves ahead..

When the wheel rotates around its axle one set of spokes which are almost touching the ground would go up and reach the top, and again would start coming down..

This happens to every set of spokes as the wheels moves on .. Similarly as the life goes on one enjoys good fortune at one time and sure, he would face unfavourable times too in due course.. And a saga of misfortunes would give way to better times too, given some time..

So simple a philosophy.. But so true...

കാലക്രമേണ ജഗതഃ പരിവര്‍ത്തമാനാ|

ചക്രാരപംക്തിരിവ ഗച്ഛതി ഭാഗ്യപംക്തിഃ||

ഭാസകവേഃ സ്വപ്നവാസവദത്തേ||

ഭൂമിയില്‍ ജീവിക്കുന്ന മനുഷ്യജീവികളുടെ ഭാഗ്യവും നിര്‍ഭാഗ്യവും ഒരു ചക്രം തിരിഞ്ഞ് മുന്നോട്ടു പോകുമ്പോള്‍   അതിന്റെ ആരക്കാലുകള്‍ മുകളിലോട്ടും താഴോട്ടും  ഇടവിട്ട്  വരുന്നതുപോലെ ഉയര്‍ന്നും താഴ്ന്നും വന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നത് സ്വാഭാവികമാണ്

ഇവിടെ കവി പറയാന്‍ ഉദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നത് ഭാഗ്യം ഒരാളെയും എല്ലായിപ്പോഴും തുണക്കില്ല എന്നകാര്യമാണ്

ജീവിതത്തിനു അതിന്‍റെതായ ഉയര്‍ച്ചകളും താഴ്ച്ചകളും ഒന്നിന് പിറകെ ഒന്നായി സംഭവിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും. ഇവിടെ  ജീവിതത്തിലെ മേലോട്ടും കീഴോട്ടും ഉള്ള പോക്കിനെ  ഒരു ചക്രം ഉരുളുമ്പോള്‍ അതിന്റെ ആരങ്ങള്‍  ഒരു വട്ടം കറങ്ങി വരുമ്പോഴേക്കും  ചക്രത്തിന്റെ ഏറ്റവും ഉയര്‍ന്ന ഭാഗവും  ഭൂമിയി ഉരസുന്ന ഏറ്റവും താഴ്ന്ന ഭാഗവും കണ്ടേ മതിയാവൂ. 

ഇത് ഓരോ ആരത്തിനും സംഭവിക്കുന്ന കാര്യമാണ്. ജീവിതവും ഇതുപോലേയൊക്കെയാണ്.  നല്ലതും ചീത്തയും വന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കും .  ഇപ്പോള്‍ നല്ലതാണ് നടക്കുന്നതെങ്കില്‍  പിന്നൊരിക്കല്‍ അത്ര നല്ലത് അല്ലാത്തതും വരും.. തിരിച്ചും സംഭവിക്കും.   ഇത് ഒരാള്‍ക്ക്‌ മാത്രം  വരുന്നതല്ല.  എല്ലാവരുടേയും സ്ഥിതി ഇതാണ്.
ഒരുപക്ഷെ നമുക്ക് ജീവിതം പഠിപ്പിക്കാന്‍ വേണ്ടിയാവണം  വെല്ലുവിളികള്‍ വരുന്നത്.
