जराग्रस्तं रूपं हसितललितोत्साहरहितं शिरः

जराग्रस्तं रूपं हसितललितोत्साहरहितं शिरः शुक्लीभूतं तिमिरपटलैरक्षि पिहितम्।

शनैरभ्युत्थानं गतिरपि च मन्दाकुलपदा समीपस्थो मृत्युर्विलसति न चेच्छा विरमति॥

jarāgrastaṁ rūpaṁ hasitalalitotsāharahitaṁ śiraḥ śuklībhūtaṁ timirapaṭalairakṣi pihitam|

śanairabhyutthānaṁ gatirapi ca mandākulapadā samīpastho mṛtyurvilasati na cecchā viramati||

The physical shape reveals a lot of deformity due to old age, the attitude is no longer smiling, light and enthusiastic.. The head has become snow white with grey hair.. The eyes are covered or clouded with cataract .. It takes indeed a lot of time and effort even to raise from the sitting posture and during walks the steps and slow, tottering and painful too. This is the condition of an elderly person. These are clear warnings that death is lurking around at close proximity. But even for such a person the deisre, avarice, never gets reduces or ceases.
