मर्माण्यस्थीनि हृदयं तथासून्

घोरा वाचो निर्दहन्तीह पुंसाम् ।

तस्माद्वाचं रुचतीन्तीक्ष्णरूपं

धर्मारामो अन्त्यशो वर्जयेत्ताम् ॥१२१॥

सरसमुच्चये

marmānyasthīni hṛdayaṃ tathāsūn

ghorā vāco nirdahantīha puṃsām ।

tasmādvācaṃ rucatīntīkṣṇarūpaṃ

dharmārāmo antyaśo varjayettām ॥121॥

Sharp, insensitive and cruel words, when used, burn down the vital parts, the bones, the heart and even the very life of human beings. Therefore, if a person is keen to regulate his life in the peace and tranquillity of the path of righteousness, then he should avoid using deeply hurting, sharp, acrid world of low standard.

पुंसां of people मर्माणि vital organs अस्थीनि bones हृदयं heart तथा then असून् life च tooघोराः cruel, grotesque वाचः words निर्दहन्ति burn down तस्माद् therefore तां that, such रुचतीं sharp, acrid तीक्ष्णरूपं of intensely hurting अन्त्यशो lowly, inferior, nasty वाचं words धर्मारामो whose desire is to tread the path of calmness, righteousness वर्जयेत् should avoid

മര്‍മാണ്യസ്ഥീനി ഹൃദയം തഥാസൂന്‍

ഘോരാ വാചോ നിര്‍ദഹന്തീഹ പുംസാം ।

തസ്മാദ്വാചം രുചതീന്തീക്ഷ്ണരൂപം

ധര്മാരാമോ അന്ത്യശോ വര്ജയേത്താം ॥൧൨൧॥

മൂര്‍ച്ചയേറിയവയും നിര്‍വികാരങ്ങളും ക്രൂരത നിറഞ്ഞവയും ആയ വാക്കുകള്‍ ഒരാള്‍ക്കെതിരെ പ്രയോഗിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അവ അയാളുടെ മര്മ്മസ്ഥാനങ്ങളെയും, അസ്ഥിയെയും ഹൃദയത്തെയും, എന്തിനേറെ പ്രാണനെപ്പോലും ചുട്ടു ചാമ്പലാക്കുന്നു. ഈ യാഥാര്‍ഥ്യം നല്ലവണ്ണം ഉള്‍ക്കൊണ്ട് നന്മയുടെയും സൗഹാര്‍ദ്ദത്തിന്‍റെയും ധര്‍മ്മത്തിന്‍റെയും തണലില്‍ ശാന്തമായി ജീവിക്കാന്‍ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തി മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ മനസ്സിനെ വെട്ടിമുറിക്കുന്നവയും , വേദനിപ്പിക്കുവാന്‍ വേണ്ടി മാത്രം കുറിക്കുകൊള്ളുന്നവയും തരം താണവയും ആയ വാക്കുകള്‍ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത് എല്ലാ വിധത്തിലും ഒഴിവാക്കേണ്ടതാണ്.
