ब्रह्मणो हृदयं विष्णुः विष्णोश्च हृदयं शिवः
शिवस्य हृदयं सन्ध्या तेनोपास्या द्विजोत्तमाः॥
brahmaNo hR^idayaM viSNuH viSNoshcha hR^idayaM shivaH
shivasya hR^idayaM sandhyaa tenopaasyaa dwijottamaaH..
The
heart of Brahma is Vishnu and the heart of Vishnu is Shiva..
The heart
of Shiva is Sandhya and therefore it is prescribed that the learned men
should not fail to propitiate Sandhya.
Sandhyadevata is actually a
force residing in our hearts.
We should always remember that we are
propelled to action only because we are one with that Sandhya.
While
doing the oblation to Sandhya and the upasana to Gayatri, this should be
the only thought in our minds.. the oneness of the Self and Sandhya.
Every episode of oblation to Sandhya is performed to cleanse ourselves
of the sins committed by us in the interregnum of a few hours after the
ealier episode.
The sins are so contagious.
The arghyas given through
gayatri are for the welfare of the Sun and the entire universe.
The
beneficiary of each episode of Sandyavandanam by anyone is the whole
Universe.
Once a person is initiated to Gayatri, it is presumed that
his eye of enlightenment is opened.
So the person carrying Gayatri
should live upto the lofty standards expected of Him.
Even when
one is observing aasaucham on account of a death of a near relative, He
should not fail in offering arghyam in Sandhya.
If one is seriously
ill but is still alive, Sandyavandanam should be performed by a
representative on his behalf.
It is a sacred duty ordained on us and
cannot cease until our death.
