there was a sort of argument as to performing two tharpanams.. one grahana tarpanam and one Sankrama Tarpanam on the same day separately.
The actual position is as follows.
Grahanam is a punyakalam.. a specific period..
The tarpanam on that occasion is a stand alone karma.. and the normal time etc do not apply for that..
Normally no tarpanam is done during night.. but for chandragrahanam, the tarpanam has to be done at the middle or after the middle of the grahanam and the chandra grahanam occurs during night only..
And here the tarpanam is around 3 AM and our Indian day starts with suryodayaa..
So three in the night is yesterday.. How can you follow English AM and PM for tarpanam.
Even otherwise, is there any bar on more than one tarpanam in a day..? Where is it prescribed..? The answer is that there is no restriction
Even when sradham comes on Amavasya, we have to do Amavasya Darsha Sraddham and tarpanam.. for ubhayavamsha pitrus and then tarpanam during sraddham..
It is an established rule that Grahana Tarpanam and Sankaramana or Darsha Tarpanam if they happen on the same day have to be done separately.. There is no rule that more than one tarpanam should not be done...
