मन्ये दुर्जनचित्तवृत्तिहरणे धातास्ति भग्नोद्यमः

पोतो दुस्तर वारिराशितरणे दीपोऽन्धकारागमे

निर्वाते व्यजनं मदान्धकरिणां दर्पोपशान्तौ शृणिः।

इत्थं तद् भुवि नास्ति यस्य विधिना नोपायचिन्ता कृता

मन्ये दुर्जनचित्तवृत्तिहरणे धातास्ति भग्नोद्यमः॥

भर्तृहरेः नीतिशतके॥

poto dustara vārirāśitaraṇe dīpo'ndhakārāgame

nirvāte vyajanaṁ madāndhakariṇāṁ darpopaśāntau śṛṇiḥ|

itthaṁ tad bhuvi nāsti yasya vidhinā nopāyacintā kṛtā

manye durjanacittavṛttiharaṇe dhātāsti bhagnodyamaḥ||

A good boat can be put to good use for voyage and we could cross even the stormy ocean which is indeed very difficult to cross

When there is darkness one can light a lamp and dispel the darkness

When the air is hot and sultry and there is no breeze one can feel cool by fanning himself with a fan

When elephants are blind and reckless due to rut, they could be kept under control by effective use of goads

Yes, one could find some sort of checking or control mechanism for almost every situation arising in this earth

But alas, it seems the Lord of fate has never thought of any remedies to check the destructive mental propensities of people with evil minds.

പോതോ ദുസ്തര വാരിരാശിതരണേ ദീപോഽന്ധകാരാഗമേ

നിര്‍വാതേ വ്യജനം മദാന്ധകരിണാം ദര്‍പോപശാന്തൌ ശൃണിഃ।

ഇത്ഥം തദ് ഭുവി നാസ്തി യസ്യ വിധിനാ നോപായചിന്താ കൃതാ

എത്രയധികം കാറ്റും കോളും കൊണ്ട് പ്രക്ഷുബ്ദമായ കടലില്‍ പെട്ടുപോയാലും അതിലൂടെ തുഴജുകയരാന്‍ ഉതകുന്ന തോണികള്‍ ധാരാളമുണ്ട്

എത്ര വലിയ ഇരുട്ടിലും പ്രകാശം പകരാന്‍ വിളക്കുകള്‍ തെളിക്കാവുന്നതാണ്.

കാട്ടില്ലാതെ ചൂടും പുഴുക്കവും നിറഞ്ഞ അന്തരീക്ഷത്തില്‍ തണുപ്പ്‌ പകരാന്‍ വിശറി കൊണ്ട് വീശിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്നാല്‍ മതി

മദമിളകി കണ്ണുകാണാതെ ലക്കും ലഗാനും ഇല്ലാതെ മുന്നേറുന്ന കൊമ്പന്മാരെ തളയ്ക്കാന്‍ കൂര്‍ത്ത തോട്ടി ശരിക്കും ഉപയോഗിക്കാം.

അതെ, അത്രയൊന്നും ശരിയല്ലാത്തതായി ഈ ഭൂമുഖത്ത് സംഭവിക്കുന്ന എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ക്കും എന്തെങ്കിലും ഒക്കെ പ്രതിവിധികള്‍ ഉണ്ടാവും.

പക്ഷെ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ മനസ്സില്‍ ഉദിക്കുന്ന വഴിവിട്ടവയും വിനാഷകരങ്ങളും ആയ ചിന്തകളെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാനും ഇല്ലാതാക്കുവാനും ബ്രഹ്മദേവന്‍ ഒരു ഉപായവും ഒരിക്കലും ചിന്തിച്ചിട്ടില്ല എന്ന് തോന്നുന്നു.
