A very learned and revered person made the following comment
"When Vedas were published in the world, there were no letters, no books, no CDs. So that rule was perhaps made ."
He means the mouth to ear rendering of Vedas from the Guru to the Shishya..

with utmost respect, I would love to agree. But I am not able to agree in full.
It may be true to a certain extent.. but the memorization of Vedas through mouth to ear communication was so perfected that, after applying the rules of analysis of each syllable, letter, word and sentence grammatically and phonetically through techniques developed through Vedgangas, the immutable originality of the techniques are unmatched in ingenuity for all time. and its rendering remained pure and faithful almost for five millenniums.
Just think or rendering Vedas in Krama, Jatha, Ratha, Ghanam and so on..
Then Personally, I still do not believe that data storage, recording, and synthesizing through digital and analogue technologies have been effective in maintaining such purity..
No processor of intelligence or data can be as effective as the human brain at its peak efficiency..
Secondly, recording data, signals and messages in verbal or picture forms was available and prevailing with the people in many parts of the world including the Harappan sites, either prior to vedic epoch or at least contemporaneous with them..
The mouth to ear imparting of Vedic knowledge definitely has deeper and more significant dimensions than just presence or absence of facilities for means of writing or data storage..
No paper, parchment or hard-disk, or optical or electrical storage media can be as efficient as the human brain..
We humans created the storage media, but the supreme storage medium, the human brain, is created by God..
I am not bold enough to challenge God.
