नास्तिक्यं वेदनिन्दां च देवतानां च कुत्सनम् ।
द्वेषं दम्भं च मानं च क्रोधं तैक्ष्ण्यं च वर्जयेत्॥११०॥
सारसमुच्चये मनुस्मृत्यां 4-163
nāstikyaṃ vedanindāṃ ca devatānāṃ ca kutsanam ।
dveṣaṃ dambhaṃ ca mānaṃ ca krodhaṃ taikṣṇyaṃ ca varjayet॥110॥
sārasamuccaye manusmṛtyāṃ 4-163
A person ( if he desires welfare) should avoid)
1 Lack of faith in the Divine being
2. Tendency to insult the holy scriptures
3. Habit of abusing the Divine being
4. Hatred and intolerance arising out of senseless prejudice
5. Tendency to cheat, tendency to be dishonest and fraudulent
6. Haughtiness, senseless feeling of puffed up self-importance
7 Uncontrollable anger
8. Extremely sharp behaviour and intense actions
If one does not believe in God, he can claim that the first three items in the list are not of his concern. But no one can exist without believing in himself and other fellow human beings. So the remaining items in the list supplied by Manu would apply to all sensible persons
नरःa man नास्तिक्यं absence of faith in the Divine वेदनिन्दां insulting the scripture देवतानां कुत्सनं abuse, contempt of Divinity द्वेषं hate arising out of prejudice दम्भंdeceit, fraud मानं Haughtiness क्रोधं rage तैक्ष्ण्यं extremely sharp behaviour, unreasonable intensity च too वर्जयेत् should give up, should abandon, should steer clear of

നന്മയും ക്ഷേമവും നിറഞ്ഞ ജീവിതം ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തി താഴെ പറയുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങള് ഒഴിവാക്കിയേ പറ്റൂ
1. ദൈവത്തിലുള്ള വിശ്വാസം ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുക
2 . ദൈവികങ്ങളായ വേദങ്ങള് മുതലായ കൃതികളെ അവഹേളിക്കുക
3. ദൈവത്തെ ചീത്ത വിളിക്കുക
4. മുന്വിധികള്ക്ക് വശംവദനായി മറ്റുള്ളവരോട് അസഹിഷ്ണുത വച്ചു പുലര്ത്തുക
5. വഞ്ചന, മറ്റുള്ളവരെ പറ്റിച്ചും പൊള്ളയായ വാഗ്ദാനങ്ങള് കൊടുത്തും സ്വന്തം കാര്യം നേടുന്നതില് ഒരു കൂസലും ഇല്ലാതിരിക്കുക
6 അഹങ്കാരം, താന് ഏതോ വലിയ സംഭവമാണെന്നും മറ്റുള്ളവര് തന്നെക്കാള് എത്രയോ താഴെക്കിടയില് ഉള്ളവര് ആണെന്നും ഉള്ള ചിന്ത ഉണ്ടാവുക
7 നിയന്ത്രണമില്ലാതെ കോപത്തിനു അടിമപ്പെടുക
8 ആവശ്യത്തില് അധികം തീക്ഷ്ണത.. സംഭവങ്ങള്ക്ക് എതിരായി അതിരുവിട്ടും നില മറന്നും പ്രതികരിക്കുക
യുക്തിവാദിയാണെന്നും ദൈവത്തില് വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നില്ല എന്ന് സ്വയം നിശ്ചയിച്ച വ്യക്തിക്ക് മുകളില് പറഞ്ഞതിലെ മൂന്നു കാര്യങ്ങള് ബാധകം ആവില്ലായിരിക്കും.
പക്ഷെ തന്നെയും തന്റെ സഹജീവികളെയും വിശ്വസിക്കാതെ ഒരാള്ക്കും ഈ ഭൂമിയില് നിലനില്ക്കാനാവില്ല. അതിനാല് മനു പറഞ്ഞ മറ്റു കാര്യങ്ങള് വിവരമുള്ള എല്ലാ ആളുകളും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്. വേണ്ടതാണ്. വിശ്വാസികള്ക്ക് ആദ്യത്തെ മൂന്നു കാര്യങ്ങളും കൂടി മനസ്സില് കരുതേണ്ടി വരും.
