A poor and helpless man is lamenting
( In this satirical Subhashitam)
=========
I have three wives.. all well born.They are are very chaste and faithful. They will never think of anyone else other than me
They are hunger, thirst and desire for more and more possessions..
Even among these three desire or avarice is the most faithful, she would never leave me..
========
Of course hunger and thirst would never leave us.. But it is a tragic truth that when food or water is scarce, and resources are scant, we get hungrier and thirstier, perhaps because of the anxiety..
And avarice to have more and more.. that is the most faithful part of the psyche of anyone and if he is not having even meagre resources, his desire to have something and to feel desperate about others having something increases sky high..
