Even a dog would behave with the vigour and valour of a lion when it is in the company of its master

पुरस्कृत्य बलं राजा योधयेदवलोकयन्। 

स्वामिनाधिष्टितः श्वापि किं न सिंहायते ध्रुवम्॥ 

इन्दिश्चे स्प्रुचे १७९६ हितोपदेशे

puraskṛtya balaṁ rājā yodhayedavalokayan| 

svāminādhiṣṭitaḥ śvāpi kiṁ na siṁhāyate dhruvam||

 indiśce spruce 1796 hitopadeśe

A king (the supreme commander) should always lead his army right in the field keeping personal watch and having straight control over the operations. That will add strength to the soldiers. Even a dog would behave with the vigour and valour of a lion when it is in the company of its master.
