पटुत्वं सत्यवादित्वं कथायोगेन बुध्यते।

अस्तब्धत्वमचापल्यं प्रत्यक्षेणावगम्यते॥

१६७६ इन्दिस्चे स्प्रुचे हितोपदेशे

paṭutvaṁ satyavāditvaṁ kathāyogena budhyate|

astabdhatvamacāpalyaṁ prtyakṣeṇāvagamyate|| 1

The smartness, efficiency to deliver goods and honesty in dealings inherent in a person could be discerned by engaging in conversation with him. However, his nonchalance and boldness on the face of dangers and absence of tendency to fall to temptations could be tested only when really challenging situations arise and his character is put to acid test.
