तेजोहीने महीपाले स्वे परे च विकुर्वते।
निःशङ्को हि जनो धत्ते पद भस्मन्यनूष्मणि॥

If a ruler loses all his strength power and vitality then all people, be it his own subjects or his enemies would just become indifferent to him and would not care to obey his dictates.
See, if there was a big fire and after burning in full vitality the fire has subsided and ashes have become cold, then all people around would merrily put their feet on such heap of ashes without any hesitation.
Here the smouldering fire is compared to the strong ruler. No one would dare to near him. However when he loses his strength or authority he is just like a heap of cold ashes. Anyone can step over him.

ഒരു ഭരണാധികാരിയുടെ അധികാരവും ശക്തിയും പ്രഭുത്വവും എല്ലാം നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടുകഴിഞ്ഞാല് പിന്നെ അയാളുടെ നാട്ടുകാരും പ്രജകളും, പിന്നെ അയാളുടെ വിമര്ശകരും ശത്രുക്കളും എല്ലാം ഒരുപോലെ അയാളെ അവഗണിക്കാന് തുടങ്ങും. അത്തരം ഭരണാധികാരിയുടെ ആജ്ഞകള്ക്ക് ആരും പുല്ല് വില പോലും കല്പിക്കുകയില്ല.
നോക്കൂ, ഒരിടത്ത് ഒരു വലിയ തീക്കുണ്ഡം നല്ലവണ്ണം കത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. കുറേക്കഴിയുമ്പോള് കത്തുവാനുള്ള സാധനം എല്ലാം തീര്ന്നു ഉള്ളതെല്ലാം ചാരമായി മാറുന്നു. തീ കെട്ടടങ്ങുന്നു. കുറേക്കൂടി കഴിയുമ്പോള് ആ ചാരം തണുത്തു പോകും. അത്തരം തണുത്ത ചാരത്തില് കാലുരണ്ടും വച്ച് ചാടിക്കളിക്കുവാന് ആര്ക്കും ഒരു മടിയോ ആശങ്കയോ ഉണ്ടാവുകയില്ലല്ലോ.
(ഇവിടെ നല്ലവണ്ണം കത്തുന്ന തീയ് ശക്തനായ ഭരണാധികാറിയെപ്പോലെയാണ്. ആരും അത്ര വേഗം ഒന്നും അയാളുടെ അടുക്കല് പോവുകയില്ല. പക്ഷെ തീയ് കെട്ടടങ്ങി ചാരം തണുത്ത കൂമ്പാരത്തെ പോലെയാണ് കഴിവില്ലാത്ത ഭരണാധികാരി. അയാളുടെ പുറത്ത് ആര് വേണമെങ്കില് ചവിട്ടി നടക്കും )
