पथि च्युतं तिष्ठति दिष्टरक्षितं गृहे स्थितं तद्विहतं विनश्यति।
जीवत्यनाथोऽपि तदीक्षितो वने गृहेऽपि गुप्तोऽस् हतो न जीवति॥
भागवत पुराणे इन्दिश्चे स्प्रुचे ३९०२ ४४९६
pathi cyutaṁ tiṣṭhati diṣṭarakṣitaṁ grīhe sthitaṁ tadvihataṁ vinaśyati|
jīvatyanātho'pi tadīkṣito vane gṛhe'pi guptoasya hato na jīvati||

If it is given the protection of destiny, even valuables thrown carelessly on the street would not be lost. If fate works adversely, even things kept securely at home would get destroyed. Even an orphan thrown in the forest, if the favourable eyes of destiny falls on him would live and thrive. And if destiny has marked the end of a person, then he will not survive even if he hides securely in his own house.
