Maybe prayer prepares us to take plunge into areas where mere fear and even logic would not permit us to enter. Just like the trust that makes a child to confront a bully if its mother is standing nearby. As a mental tonic prayer is great. And of course it is the working of the mind that prods a person into action
It is in this backdrop that a non believer like Voltaire felt that if there is no God we have to create one.
I feel that genuine faith in God should be based on our love and awe for His grandeur and our gratitude for all that is given to us. Belief conditional to His positive response to a prayer..is not a quality belief
