If something is inherently of great quality and worth, it will sustain itself and enrich the surroundings and even the universe.

However, if it is hollow inside with some showy painting outside, eventually, the sheen will vanish, and the bluff will reveal itself.

Reminded of the blue fox of Panchatantra.(the fox which fell into a cauldron of washer-man's blue.. and pretended that it is a heavenly creature because its skin was of a different hue)
