I remember Kalidasa’s Raghuvamsham
Kalidasa’s description of Prince Aja as an exact foil of his father Raghu..
roopam tadojaswi tadeva veeryam tadeva naisargikam unnatatwam,
na kaaranaat swaad bibhide kumaaraH pravarttito deepa iva pradeepaat
(Raghuvamsham 5-37)
The vibrant young man Aja did have the same attractive physical features of his father Raghu.
He possessed the same valour and strength.
He possessed the same qualities of intrinsic tallness in physique and in mind.
The son did not differ from his father in any manner.
It was as if the son was just a lamp lit from another lamp of identical qualities.
Lucky is the man who has children who equal him.
Moreover, blessed is the one if the children excel him.
