The strife starts here

A lot of sense is therein the presumption that there is degeneration in values in what we call Kali Yuga, the current eon.
When people lived in primitive and nomadic stages, they had a lot of fear and many reasons to depend on one another for sheer survival.

That idea cemented together substantial mutual goodwill among human beings.
As material comforts increase, desire for more pleasures shows up. In addition, perhaps, out of sheer boredom, comparison of merits inter se starts.
When there are no major challenges for essential creature comforts, we tend to become extremely arrogant.
We forget completely the fact that we are under the control of God and nature. We find unreasonable pleasure in comparing ourselves with others and concluding that we are better and special too.
We tend to look down upon others in this process.
The strife starts here.
Nowadays we are more jealous and intolerant too.
The situation no doubt is worsening in front of our eyes.
Therefore we can conclude that the reported evils of progressing Kali are not just the figs if imagination of people who wrote literature in earlier Yugas.
You may note that all the epics Puranas and even Vedas have appeared only within 5000 years just ahead of us and those years are simply in Kaliyuga.
The mention of Kali is just incidental.
A bookmark of sorts.
Nevertheless, the progressive deterioration in social standards as we move ahead is clearly visible.
Of course, even the standards of morality and values could get redefined in not so distant a future.
