praśnottararatnamālikā||21
An elegant statement in the form of answers to some very valid queries-- found in the classic creation of Shankarabagavatpada,the Prashnottararatnmaalikaa
Who is blind?
The one who is engaged in pursuing deeds that are wrong and prohibited
Who is deaf?
The one who would not listen to advises and reminders that are really for his own benefit and welfare
Who is dumb?
The one who does not care to nor is capable of uttering nice, endearing and sweet words to others at the proper time.
The answers would seem to be too simplistic, especially when they come from one of the greatest thinkers human race has ever produced
Then solutions to almost all problems are simple. We complicate things only because of lack of application of mind
With some care, we can avoid misery, by just refusing to do things which we know are not right, by just being receptive to the good lessons from all around,and , by just speaking only good words wherever possible ( and of course avoiding harsh words)
